Purpose and acceptance

Handler is an online service that helps communities run their Wardogs game servers: live control and moderation, statistics, automations, player tickets, anticheat, public pages, a mobile app and an API.

These terms govern the use of the site, the app and the API. By creating an account or using the service, you accept them. If you use the service on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have the authority to bind it.

The terms of sale also apply to the paid plan. The data processing agreement is part of these terms when your organization uses Handler to process player data.

Definitions

  • Service: the Handler site, mobile app and API.
  • Member: a person who has a Handler account.
  • Organization: a group of servers and members, run by its owners and administrators.
  • Player: a person who plays on a server connected to Handler, with or without a Handler account.
  • Publisher: the sole proprietor who operates Handler, identified in the legal notice.

Account and security

You must be at least 15 to create an account. The information you give must be accurate. An account is personal: do not share it.

You protect your credentials. Turn on two-factor authentication or a passkey when you can: some organizations require it. Tell us without delay if you think your account is compromised.

You are responsible for what is done with your account, unless a third party took it over because of a failure on our side.

You can delete your account at any time from the settings. An account that is the only owner of an organization cannot be deleted until it transfers ownership or deletes the organization.

Organizations and roles

The owners of an organization decide who its members are, and what roles and permissions they have. They are responsible for how those members use Handler on the organization's behalf.

An owner manages billing, API keys, Discord links and sensitive settings. Sensitive actions require a recent identity confirmation.

The organization remains responsible for the rules it applies to its players, the sanctions it issues and the automations it turns on.

Connected game servers

You only connect servers you are entitled to administer. You provide their RCON access: Handler stores it encrypted and never shows it again.

Handler acts on your servers at your request or according to the rules you configured: reading state, kicks, bans, messages, configuration, map rotation. You are responsible for the effects.

You comply with the terms of Wardogs and of its publisher. Handler is not the game and does not guarantee that the game publisher allows or keeps the interfaces it uses. A game update may limit or interrupt some features.

Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use Handler to cheat, to facilitate cheating or to evade a sanction (for example by revealing how detections work to cheaters);
  • harass, threaten or discriminate, including through messages, sanction reasons, tickets or public pages;
  • publish unlawful content, or personal data of third parties without a legal basis;
  • sanction players in bad faith, or publish false reports on the anticheat network;
  • impersonate a person or an organization;
  • try to access data, accounts or servers that are not yours, or bypass a technical limit, an authentication or a bot check;
  • disrupt the service: abnormal load, vulnerability scanning without written permission, mass extraction of public data;
  • resell or sublicense access to the service without written permission, or use it to build a competing service;
  • infringe a third party's rights or the applicable law.

To report a security vulnerability, write to the contact address. We handle in good faith any report made responsibly: without exploiting the flaw and without accessing other people's data.

Players and moderation

An organization that uses Handler to moderate its players is responsible for processing those players' data. It informs its players, has a legal basis and handles their requests. The data processing agreement describes how roles are split.

Sanctions are decided and applied by the organization, not by Handler. An organization provides a way for a player to appeal a sanction, for example through the tickets of its public page.

Public pages show only what the organization chooses to turn on. A player can remove themselves from all public pages by signing in with Steam.

Anticheat and shared network

Anticheat detections are statistical clues, not proof. By default they open a case for a human to review and apply no automatic sanction. An organization may turn on automatic actions; it then takes responsibility for them and keeps a human review and a way to appeal.

The shared network is optional. Each organization chooses separately whether to share its telemetry, to publish reports and to receive other organizations' reports, category by category.

A report is published only from a case confirmed by a human or from an active ban of the organization, with a category and a factual summary. You publish only facts you can justify. Organizations that receive a report cannot see who published it; only platform moderators can.

A player can appeal a report from a public page. The organization that published it answers within 7 days. After that, the platform confirms or overturns the report. A report that is overturned or withdrawn stops counting, and the bans it caused are lifted.

Handler may limit, suspend or remove an organization's participation in the network if it publishes abusive or unfounded reports.

API, keys and limits

The API is available with keys created by an organization's owners. A key acts with at most its creator's rights. Keep it secret: it is shown only once. You are responsible for how it is used.

The Free plan gives access to the REST API with a limit of 60 requests per minute per key. The live stream and webhooks are reserved for paid plans. These limits may change; the API documentation is authoritative.

A webhook must point to a public address you control. Check the signature of every call. Handler may disable an endpoint that fails continuously or is used to attack a third party.

User content

You keep all your rights in the content you enter: rules, notes, tickets, automations, public texts. You grant Handler the right to host, reproduce and display it as far as needed to provide the service, including to the people you choose (members, players, visitors of the public page).

You warrant that you have the right to publish this content. Handler may remove content that is manifestly unlawful or contrary to these terms, after reporting it where possible.

When you share a rule pack in the community library, you allow other organizations to install and adapt it for their own use. Shared packs are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0): free reuse and adaptation, crediting the author.

Plans

Handler offers a Free plan and paid Pro plans, which depend on the number of servers covered. The features, limits and retention periods of each plan are shown on the Pricing page, which is authoritative. The terms of sale govern the paid plan.

Core features remain available on the Free plan. Handler may change the plans, without taking away from an organization what it paid for in the current period.

Availability

Handler makes reasonable efforts to keep the service available but does not guarantee continuous availability. The Free plan comes with no service level commitment. Interruptions may occur: maintenance, incident, provider outage, game update.

Availability commitment of the Pro plans: no figure is committed; the service is provided on a best-effort basis (obligation of means).

The service works with the data the game exposes. Handler does not guarantee that it is complete or accurate: an unreachable server or a missing reading can skew a statistic or a detection.

Intellectual property

Handler, its code, interfaces, texts and logos belong to the publisher or its licensors. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for the life of your account, under these terms.

The source code of Handler is published under the GNU AGPL-3.0 licence, which governs it; the private anticheat engine is not part of it and stays under these terms. Third-party trademarks (Wardogs, Steam, Discord, Apple, Google) belong to their owners.

Suspension and termination

You can stop using Handler and delete your account at any time. To export your organization's data before leaving, write to the contact address.

Handler may suspend or close an account or an organization in case of serious or repeated breach of these terms, risk to the security of the service, unpaid amounts that are not settled, or a legal obligation. Except in an emergency or where the law requires otherwise, we write to you first and give you a reasonable time to fix the problem.

On closure, access to the service stops. Data is deleted or anonymized as set out in the privacy policy and the data processing agreement. The provisions that must survive (intellectual property, liability, governing law) keep applying.

Liability

Handler owes an obligation of reasonable care and skill, not of result. It is not liable for indirect damage, such as loss of players, revenue or reputation, nor for the consequences of a sanction decided by an organization, a wrong detection, or an outage of the game, Steam, Discord, Stripe or your server host.

Between businesses, Handler's liability for direct damage is limited to the amounts the organization paid to Handler in the 12 months before the event giving rise to liability.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits a liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, in particular in case of gross negligence or wilful misconduct, nor the rights that the law gives to consumers.

Personal data

The privacy policy describes the data Handler processes, why, for how long, and how to exercise your rights. The data processing agreement describes Handler's role for your organization's player data.

Changes to the terms

Handler may change these terms, for example to follow a change in the service or in the law. Important changes are announced by email or in the service at least 30 days before they take effect. The version and date are at the top of the page.

If you refuse the new version, you can delete your account before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service afterwards means you accept it.

General provisions

If a clause is invalid, the others still apply. Not exercising a right is not waiving it. These terms, together with the terms of sale, the privacy policy and the data processing agreement, are the entire agreement between you and Handler.

French is the reference language. The English version is a faithful translation provided for information: if they differ, the French version prevails.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. In case of a dispute, write to the contact address first: we look for an amicable solution.

If you act as a consumer, you keep the right to bring the case before the court of your place of residence.

Between businesses, failing an amicable agreement, the competent courts are those within the jurisdiction of the Paris Court of Appeal.
